Estimated price for a hawaiian vacation?
Okay, so I used to live in Hawaii & i really want to back
this summer. How much do you think it would cost to fly
out from Jacksonville, Florida to Honolulu & stay in a hotel
for a week? My dad was in the military & we still get some
discounts for vacation rentals. But what would be your estimated
price to go to Hawaii for a week, with six people & including
plane tickets?
Thanks so much:]
If you leave the second week of January 2009, it may run you around $1200 per person with flight with Delta and staying at Doubletree Hotel Alana Waikiki to maybe $1850 per person staying at Ko Olina Beach Resort.
When I booked to fly in Feb, I booked with an agent in Germany. I live in Germany. Book on line and see what you get or go see a travel agent. Economy is hurting so there may be some deals that may interest you.
What is the least commericialized and tourist clogged island or beach in the Hawaiian Islands?
I would like to visit the Hawaiian Islands or any of the Polynesian Islands without all the commericialism and wall to wall rich fat-cat tourist.
In general, the more isolated areas tend to be more exclusive & expensive. Non of the places I list will be wall to wall tourists, but the tourists that are there (with the exception of Turtle Bay) will be fat cats.
As far as islands that allow outsiders, Lanai is the least commercialized. (Niihau is the least developed, but is by invitation only.) There are two very expensive hotels on Lanai, and also one very small, not at all fancy hotel.

Another really beautiful area that is non-commercialized (but also quite pricey) is Hana, Maui. This would be the place I would recommend above any other. It’s as close to paradise as I have ever experienced.

On Oahu, the closest you will be able to get to "getting away from it all" Is Turtle Bay,on the north shore.

Is the Lava on the Big Island of Hawaii still flowing into the sea?
A few years ago a person could take a boat trip and see the lava flowing into the sea from the Big Island of Hawaii. I am wondering if this can still be done and if the lava is still flowing into the sea.
The Kilauea Volcano is always bubbling, but right now there isn’t enough lava to hit the ocean (only happens occasionally). You can go to Volcanoes National Park and walk out on mostly-cooled lava (and it’s sitll warm!). That’s good as well.
we are visiting the sea life center in birmingham where is the best place to park that will no cost the earth?
the further away you park, the cheaper it is.
How does one get from HNL airport to Diamond Head by bus or other mass transit?
During a long (12-hour) weekday layover at Honolulu airport, would like to visit Diamond Head by mass transit. Can someone show me the way?
The Bus has a couple of routes (19 and 20) that leave from the street on the upper level of the airport. Ask around to find the stop in the median. Just make sure you’re getting on the bus that goes toward "Waikiki Beach & Hotels" and not the other direction.
The bus driver can usually tell you where to hook up with a route to go to Diamond Head–probably #58 at Ala Moana, the state’s largest shopping mall. That bus will let you off near Kapiolani Community College on Monsarrat. You’d need to walk down the street a bit and up a road through a tunnel bored through the tuff ring to find yourself inside the crater. There’s also a National Guard installation in there.
You can climb to a spot near the peak by a series of trails, steps, and tunnels–which I hear they’ve lighted or considered lighting recently. Probably safer, but will take some of the fun out of it. The view from the top is spectacular, so don’t forget to pack your camera in your carry on.
Have fun, and malama pono!
What kind of boats are generally used for snorkeling trips in the Caribbean?
You know when you are on vacation in the Caribbean and different companies offer snorkeling trips? What types of boats are generally used to take people out on these trips? Are there public companies that run these businesses or are they small private companies that own just one boat?
They vary in size from Yacht size to small 18 footers,or Catamarans which are very fairly new in terms of boating luxury even though the techno, has been a round for some time, many of these operations are base in PR Virgin islands and a few other place were tours are offered like Cayman islands and Belize, all because of the abundance of reefs and its natural aquatic environ.
Many of these { boating } businesses are privately owned and operated if not by one person are a group of individuals in in the tourist trade through third parties who act behalf of a particular hotel chain.
None to my knowledge are indeed publicly owned either by stock exchange are Gov.
Even Cruise ships offer tours as for them am not sure if they are owned by share holder { which is highly possible}.
Just to give you an example take a look at these sites and see the variety of excursions, and also you’ll notice that there boat varies.
