Planning to go on a whale watching tour this weekend (May 9 or 10, 2009) and wondering if whales are more active during the morning or afternoon. what time of day is our best chance of seeing whales?

Personally, I’ve found that afternoons are better. Whale watching is a bit of a cooperative effort. Many boats & ships will message each other and as the day wears on, there’s a better awareness of where the whales are at.

Mornings may present fog and low coastal clouds. Afternoons can be windier and have whitecaps that can prevent spotting whales.

However, I still prefer going out in the morning because the water is usually calmer. (I tend to get seasick.)

My fiancee and I are looking at Hawaii for our honeymoon. Where would be the best place to spend a week?

I’d say Maui. It has it all, beautiful beaches, shopping, romance, and lots to do. Now my favorite is Kauai because it is a lot more quieter and laid back, but a young couple might get bored. The shopping is Ok and the scenery is very tropical, but you can drive around most of the island in 1 day(You can’t drive all the way around as the Napali coast does not have roads, just hiking trails). So this is why I would pick Maui. Oahau is too much like any city, but with great weather.

Apparently she could not shake the attention and enjoy herself basking in the sun. So, after 2 days in Hawaii they split. I would think she would have considered something a little more private and secure. But it shows me, when things get a little out of hand for her, she leaves.

Bimbo Palin is not only intensely stupid, she’s pretty crazy too. Can you imagine that complete idiot in the White House??? – but there’s plenty of brain dead "conservatives" who would turn this poor abused country over to somebody with a grade school mentality (if that)!

I’m going to Hawaii for the first time. I’ll be staying in Kona on the Big Island. What are the top 3 or 5 things you would recommend I do?

I am thinking of a Helicopter Volcano tour, I’d like to hike to the lava flows, go snorkeling, a luau, and see native gardens.
I’m going to be in Hawaii a total of 6 days, with some of the time on Oahu.
I am splitting the trip with some time on Oahu, so I get about 4 days on the Big Island. Thanks for the ideas, I’m renting a car, I’m really looking forward to it!

I just got back from the Big Island today. Your gonna love it! Snorkeling is awesome, Kealakekua bay(on Napoopoo drive, near Captain Cook) is great, I have seen dolphins there! Then go to the volcano. I flew over the lava because the volcano park said that we could not go to the lava by hiking. Flying near the lava was the second best thing I did. You can’t miss a luau, great food and good entertainment. Go see the native whales, Dan McSweeney will take you out for only 69.50. Green sand beach, black sand beach are a must. Also the waterfalls on the Hilo side are beautiful. There is so much to do on the big island, and it is such a wonderful place. I used the "big island Hawaii revealed" book, helped me alot. It cost me $420 for 2 weeks, compact car(tbats with a full tank and you bring it back empty!). Have lots of fun on your trip! I did NOT want to come back to the mainland, it is that great there.

I have wanted to be a vet since I was very small. I even picked out what school i wanted to go to when I was in Elementary school. The school hasn’t changed, Cornell. But I goofed off a couple of years and went into culinary for 2 years, because I was afraid of failing and not being good enough for Vet school. But I know I won’t be happy unless I follow my dream and become a vet. So I really really really want to get into vet school. I want to make sure I have every aspect covered and make sure that I will get in. I know grades are important, and even the course difficulty and load. I’m going to try my very best to get all "A’s" in all my courses, if not, high "B’s". I’ll also be volunteering at the Hawaiian Humane Society in the vet clinic there starting next week, and will later volunteer at the zoo this year. I also would like to try for a sea life park where you get to work with dolphins and hawaiian monk seals.
I would love any suggestions as to give myself an edge.

Just work your butt off. Vet school is A LOT more competetive than medical school because there are fewer schools. Just make awesome grades, lots of extracurricular activities, and do good on your MCATs.
