i would go with 8-10 megapixels with lots of zoom…or one where u can add zoom cannon or kodak

What is the best thing to see/do on the Hawaiian island of Oahu with my family on vacation this summer?

I’m looking for things that two adults and two high school age kids would like to do together.

We’re also going to Maui. The same question applies for that island.

I am a native Hawaiian and my favorite place on Oahu is Sandy Beach! It is a huge sandy beach with a killer shore break …great for body surfing, boogie boarding and breaking bones…so be careful if it’s big. The thing that’s so fun about it is watching people there!! It’s an absolute scream! That entire coastline is glorious Hanauma Bay for snorkeling…fun for the entire family, don’t miss the toilet bowl, just ask, it’s so fun, it’s a local only secret, tourists don’t usually get to experience it, unless a local tells them about it . It is at Hanauma Bay. Sea Life Park is right there, granted Sea World is bigger, better but NOT more beuatiful! Keep travelling northward on the windward coast and you will find one of the most beautiful (and quickly eroding beaches) in the world: Lanikai (Hawaiian for Beautiful Ocean). Don’t miss the little town of Kailua and Lanikai Beack. Kitesurfing, kayaking to the Mokalua Islands off Kailua Beach Park is a local favroite, very safe and a wonderful day trip. Don’t arrange it through your hotel, do it yourself: local style! Get a map, or pick up an independent newspaper at Ward Center (in town ) on AlaMoana Blvd. and join a hike…in Kailua/Kaneohe there’s the "stairway to Heaven" guided hike straight up the Pali (hawaiian for cliffs) and you will have been where most Hawaiians have never been before! This hike is accessible through either the Sierra Club (contact them now for info) or the Honolulu Parks and Recreation Dept.the stairway could be maintained through the Coast Guard…Park and Rec should be able to tell you ask for info re: "Haiku Gardens and the Satirway to Heaven"
Visitors think that Honolulu is just another busy city on the beach and that is not true…we have all the beautiful amenities of all the outer islands but with the convenience of a big city close by! It’s a perfect world! Take a trail ride on the beach in Waimanalo, the stable is atthe old Polo Grounds just past Sea Life Park and across from Bellows Beach, where there’s a beach called "Sherwood Forest". "Sherwoods to locals, you can camp there if you make reservations early! It’s an amazing place-old Hawaiiana. As you travel along this road, you will have dramatic mountains to yor left and breathtaking azure blue Pacific Ocean to your right…it always takes my breath away! If you stay this course, you will eventually end up on the famed North Shore of Oahu: Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay and the Bonzai Pipeline. The surf breaks are active in winter months…south swell ( Waikiki-side)is alive in summer but doesn’t get big. So take a swim at Waimea Bay and jump of the rock…it’s good fun for the whole family! good snorkeling there too! Grab some grinds in Haleiwa town…the town that time forgot…make your way to the H3…the prettiest freeway in Hawaii (we only have 3-jeez)..it’s a beautiful drive. and now you have seen half of the island. Go sportfishing on the Sea Verse with Captain Lee Severs and catch a blue marlin! It’s worth the money and he is the most successful captain in the fleet at the harbor on Ala Moana!

As for Maui! DO NOT, under any circumstances miss: CRUISER BOB’S DOWNHILL BIKE RIDE. Cruiser Bob’s boys drive you and your bikes to the top of an extinct volcano Haleakala (House of the Rising Sun) to watch the most incredible sight you will witness in your life: sunrise over the volcano, then you will bike down the face of this volcano 30 plus miles to the ocean. I have been up there when it was like 35 degrees and get to the bottem and it 80 degrees. This is truly an adventure NOT to miss! Have fun!

What is the best Hawaiian island to go to for a first time vacation?

My family is thinking about going to Hawaii this summer, and we were wondering which was the prettiest island to go to. We would like to do stuff as a family, but just enjoy the beach for the majority of our vacation. Which island is best for some relaxation, but still entertainment?

thanks for your answers

I personally think Oahu has it all. If you’re on a budget booking for hotel and flight for your family, you may want to try a corporate travel broker site – they have wholesale rates open to the public. Hotels are super cheap & brand name, I get better deals thru there than on priceline :)

You can also get a Fun Pass that will allow you to do pretty much everything on the island (museums, kayak tours, snorkeling, luau, Iolani palace, etc etc) for just $150 – you can have unlimited access to everything for days & pay no entrance fees etc – this will save you a TON!

Also, for airfare, if you have 2 people traveling, just get a Companion airfare – you can buy 1 airline ticket & get one free with the voucher. You can find all of this through a travel broker – here is one site I have used for this same thing – good luck!

Hawaiian Islands?

Suggestions for choice of Island…and any up-coming events (next fall) that we can plan our trip around. Only one island please. A one week excursion.

MAUI!!!!!! I’ve been to Maui, Hawaii, and Oahu. It keeps the island feel, even though it’s big on tourism, yet is packed with things to do and see. Mt. Haleakala (sp?) is a must to mountain bike down (yes, down, easy) you start out at like 3 or 4 to see the sun rise above the clouds…spiritual….and spend the rest of the day seeing sites you never thought existed. The road to Hana is a cliff side road that reminds me of the "Zoom, Zoom, Zoom" commercial =D Rent a jeep for that one, plan a full day, and pack a cooler. Incredible! A must is the Old Lahina Luah. Fantastic food, show and tradition….the mai tai’s are fantastic, don’t turn them down! Take a whale watching boat to the island that Bill Gates got married on. Find one that stops at the Lava Caves that shoot up out of the ocean and have a grilled lunch inside…Cool! Kyaking around Diamond Head was pretty awesome but bordered on extreme at times for me and I’m a fish. It’s a 10 hour flight to the islands for us, so we usually plan on 10-14 day vacations when we go. Don’t forget to plan a couple nothing days to find a beach or an off-the beaten path place to just digest the beauty and awe of it all! Enjoy….you’ll never forget it.

How Do I Find a Girlfriend On the Big Island of Hawaii?

I have lived on the Big Island of Hawaii for a long time, almost 20 years, and have not been able to find a girlfriend. I was home schooled. I have only met a handful of girls around my age (I am 19).
Where do people my age (18-24) hang out on this Island to meet other people?
How do I find a girlfriend?

Any friends? Ask them. College is a wonderful place to find the opposite sex. Take a class, arrive early and check out the other class members.Strike up a conversation with the women in the class. Do not zero in on one, keep on talking and see if someone reciprocates. The class they take tells you something about them, right off.

I used to watch my students, particularly in night classes that were clearly "shopping" and saw some succeed. Don’ t be picky, one success will lead to more confidence. My guess you find someone just like yourself just looking for you. Good Luck

How much money is it to get into diamond head in hawaii?

There’s a parking fee of $1 or take the bus and walk to the park entrance….

And a $1 per person entry fee!

Beware of the vendors, they like to cheat ya…if they ask for $1 for a drink give them a dollar or change, but not more…they will take it!

Take a water bottle with you on the climb up the mountain, also take your time on the climb….and you do have to crawl in military lookout!

Enjoy!!

Can you spear fish while snorkeling or only scubaing?

I live in Florida and want to try some new things. Can you spear fish while snorkeling? Any advice on learning?

u can spear fish anytime but I’d be worried about sharks

I am getting married next month in Kona, Hawaii, and I need to find a good salon to have my hair done?

We will be staying on Alii drive, so some place close by would be prefered. I just want to make sure that where I go will do a good and professional job, and that I don’t get ripped off. I have long hair, and since we are not having any guests or a bridal party I really need help with my hair. I am not doing an up-do, or anything too complicated, just some beachy waves and some of the front pieces pulled back to keep them out of my face. I asked the woman marrying us, but she didn’t have any suggestions and I can’t find any reviews of places on the internet. Any help would be much apreciated! Thanks :)

You can call the hotel where you are staying and speak with a manager. Tell them what you want, and they will get suggestions for you. There may even be a hair salon at the hotel.

Where is the nearst place for whale watching from Toronto in the 1st week of June?

I plan to go to the east cost of Canada with family during 1st week fo June. Where is the best place for whale watching? And how to get detailed information about the tour and rate.

Tourism N.B and Tourism, N.S. as well as along the St.Lawrence in parts of Quebec all have web sites for a search. If you are planning a tour, in Riviere Du Luop the Trans-Canada splits, go through Rimouski to Mont Joli and come into New Brunswick on the ocean side and head for Nova Scotia or Bay of Fundy and on return trip take Trans Canada back to where it split . You see the Gulf of St.Lawrence and eventually P.E.I. Great scenic drive, water views, some mountains(easy drive), great fishing along highway. From where the highway splits ouside Riviere du Loup to Nova Scotia border is about 6 and a half hour drive on TCH, a shade over 7 hours along coast.
