I’m not a big hiker, is the Diamond Head worth it?

I don’t really enjoy hiking, but from everything I’ve heard about the Diamond Head it sounds really interesting. Is it a hard hike? Is it actually as interesting and "must-see" as it is made out to be? I had terrible hiking experiences as a child that have kinda soiled the whole idea of hiking to me but Hawaiian hiking may be worth trying it again. Just looking for some opinions.

I HATE to hike. I’m overweight too, and I’ve done this hike three times. I love it! It’s a bit of a climb getting to the top — including 99 steps built right into the crater — but the views from the top are outstanding. It’s SO worth it, IMO. If you decide to go, take at least one bottle of water per person and a good camera. Regular old tennis shoes are fine for this hike. I have done it every time in either Tevas or rubber slippers and have been just fine, but I wear rubber slippers every day of my life so I’m used to them. ;)

Ever wonder what it would feel like to put on a pair of skates and bomb Diamond Head at 40 mph?

i seen a yellow and black snake in southeastern texas. diamond shape head smoothe scales, and skinny.?

it was approximatley 4 to 5 feet long. big yellow stripes and thin black stipes running from its head to its tail. flat diamond shape head and it was skinny with smooth looking scales. in south eastern texas by the gulf of mexico…

Sounds like a garter snake…

To the person below me, the saying goes:
Red to yellow kill a fellow
Red to black venom lack

Or at least thats how I heard it

Anyone out there climbed Diamond Head in Hawaii and if so how did you feel?

Were you not snookered?
Sorry I did mean walk or hike Diamond Head..I’m Scottish

nice view when you get to the top but it’s kinda crowded. also, it’s funny watching all the Japanese women hike in high heels and skirts. not sure what’s up with that.

HELP! How long of a walk is it through the claustrophobic, tight part of the tunnel on Diamond Head?

I see pics on flickr.com showing a large tunnel with a road through it—that’s do-able. But, I also see a very tight, narrow, dark tunnel with a rope for people to hang onto as they walk through. It looks like something I wouldn’t want to do for more than 5 minutes. How long does that tight space take to get through????

It depends on how fast you walk.

The tunnel is actually not that tight. The reason for the rope is so that people don’t get turned around in the darkness after coming in from the bright sunlight. There are low voltage lights in the tunnel and if you use a flashlight, you should be able to see what you’re walking.

Even if you walk really slowly, the tunnel shouldn’t take you much longer than a couple of minutes to walk through. Keep in mind that there is only one way up and down so if you go through it on the way up, you’ll have to go through it on the way down.

Hope that helps you……good luck on the hike and happy travels!

Tsunami Warning: Diamond Head Road, Honolulu, HI, February 27, noon

Hello,

Today we didn’t have school today because we had a Tsunami Warning, and everything near the ocean was closed. I went to Diamond Head Road with Anthony Watson, and here is a video of us there. Lucky for us, there was no Tsunami wave today!

See the ESL Teacher blog for more information on Tsunami for English (ESL) students!

diamond head dove should i have a male with her??

my bird keeps having a few eggs should i get a male for her?

If you want to raise babies then yes. Otherwise it is not necessary. Females frequently lay eggs without a male present and as long as it does not become excessive it will cause no harm
