Hawaii Vacation Deals
http://www.hawaii-aloha.com/html/hawaii__packages.html **The odds against getting a great last-minute deal on a Hawaii trip are about the same as your teenager bringing your car home on time. You’d better not depend on it. One of the best ways to get the best rates to Hawaii is to consult with a travel agent BASED in Hawaii.

what hawaiian Island do you think is the best for vacation?
the best beaches and more senic Island.
For first time visitors I always recommend Oahu. You can branch out from there.
Which Hawaiian Island is the best to stay at for 2 young married couples on vacation ?
Oahu has the must see Pearl Harbor. But the real answer is do not go all that way and only see one island. I would recomend the cheapest package to Oahu to see Pearl (Take the boat tour, anyplace you can get a free meal in HI is a good idea.) and then move on to Maui or the big island. The cheaper rooms off the shore by a few blocks are fine in Waikiki. You will be walking all around anyway.
Do the free orientation early the day after arrival… you will be up anyway. If you do not want to see their sales pitch, grab a bus or cab back to your hotel. Buses are a big deal there and cheap. One of those orientations is where we learned of the surf being up when we first arrived and spent a day watching the nuts ride the Bonsai pipeline. We even stopped at the Dole plantation. All of that was unplanned and totally fun and not expensive. Rental cars are cheap for the day, and not needed for a few days in Waikiki. You can rent right there in town.
Maui is very pretty, but for a first visit see the big island.
Kona is so cool, and lots cheaper than you may think. The locals use Aloha Air like a taxi to go back and forth so why not you?
The landing on the big island in the giant black lava field is worth the trip alone.
Any fishermen? Kona is where they catch the "Granders". Those are marlin over 1,000 lbs. And they are caught within sight of shore. Lots of them displayed too.
Go get some real Kona coffee…And see the Macadamia nut plantation…YUM
Go to Hilo, one of the rainiest places on earth, and by all means do not miss the volcano. Yes the lava is still running, and the ground is hot. It is super cool.
You will want a car on HI. Wish I was going again.

Help a single guy with planning a Hawaiian vacation in October?
Ok, so due to starting a new job this year I can only take vacation between September 27th and October 19th (can’t leave before the 27th, and have to be back at work on October 20th).
I would like to go to Hawaii, and hear that really any time of year is ok for there.
I’m planning on taking about 7 days, fly out a Friday night/Saturday Morning and be back by a Sunday.
Now I’ve never been, and have no clue which island to stay on. As well I doubt I’ll be able to have any of my friends take time off at the same time so I’ll be going on my own.
I’m a 29 year old guy, and would like suggestions on where to go and what to do there. Maybe somewhere that works well for young single people to hang out with other folks so being on your own doesn’t matter so much.
Any help would be appericated.
Thank you.
You might want to try connecting with a tour group that will allow you to join in on sightseeing trips, horseback/biking trips, boating/sailing trips, that sort of thing, but will also give you the freedom to explore on your own. Maybe there’s a travel forum or web site with other people looking for traveling companions that you might hook up with after you arrive in Hawaii.
You might want to visit two or more of the islands while you’re there. They’re all quite different and there’s something to see and do on each one.
Oahu is the main island and the city of Honolulu is just like any other American metropolis. 90% of the state’s population is on Oahu. Lots of historic places, lively nightlife, lots of shopping, some of the best beaches on the island…but it’s not easy to get very far from the city, traffic, people, planes, congestion, etc. as it used to be.
The outer islands are much more rural. Molokai is probably the least developed of the islands and it can be a real time warp. The "big island" of Hawaii has the volcanoes and in my opinion some of the most beautiful countryside. Maui has nice beaches and an impressive dormant volcano and a lot of outdoor activities. Kauai is the oldest island and has a lot of natural wonders and lush rain forest.
For a seven day trip, I’d say plan 4 or 5 organized activities and spend the rest of the time wandering around, swimming, sunning, relaxing on the beach.
Hawaii Vacation Connection – NCL Hawaii Cruise
Two years ago NCL, Norwegian Cruise Line, pulled three of its four ships out of Hawaii citing problems with their competition and lack of profitability. At that time it was a big blow to the tourism industry here and came as a big surprise because the Pride of Hawaii, a brand-new ship wasnt even in service for an entire year before it got the 86. Part of the problem was management. Weekly cruises around the Hawaiian Islands was something that hadnt been tried here for many years. As a result, it got off to a very rocky start with lots of consumer complaints. Many of the complaints centered around issues about the ships work force, which by law, must be American only. Many felt that Americans could not do as good a job at customer service as the foreign flagged ships.

Looking for Hawaiian Vacation Ideas for a family of 3 – Any suggestions?
It will be my wife, myself and our 16 year old son. Will be our first ever visit to Hawaii. We live in N.J. and would be willing to set a budget at up to $7000.
We want to see Pearl Harbor, Volcanoes, Luau’s and Great Beaches. We may not go again so want to get a good exposure.
Should we fly out and find a resort or take a Hawaiian Island Cruise? Don’t want to be locked on one Island or on a ship! We do like cruising though.
For further consideration, we would fly out of Newark N.J.
Thanks in advance!
Additional information – we will probably travel in July/August and would probably have time for 7 days in the islands.
For a 7-night trip between April 7-May 6 your airfare will run about $700 pp from Newark to Honolulu. (I just plugged in random dates because you didn’t specify when you will be traveling.) $2100 will eat up a good chunk of your $7000 budget.
Pearl Harbor is located on Oahu. Oahu also has some nice luau and beautiful beaches. The only currently active volcano is located on a different island, Hawaii, which is also known as the Big Island. Island-hopping will cost you at least $80 pp round trip, so if you want to fit in two islands, budget for the interisland airfare as well.
You won’t see much of anything if you take a cruise. The excursions are expensive and you only spend a few hours in each port. I don’t think it’s worth it if you really want to experience Hawaii.
Check out www.vrbo.com for condo rentals. You might save a little cash by renting a condo (instead of a hotel room) and fixing some of your own meals in house rather than eating at restaurants 3 meals a day. Hawaii is very expensive. With the budget you’ve stated, you won’t have much money for activities after airfare, hotel, and food.
Good luck!
Should I cancel my Hawaiian vacation until the poor state has recovered from the devastation of the 3′ tsunami?
If I can find a group to pay for my flight and lodging…I’ll donate my time to the clean up effort.
Hawaii VAcation Connection – Akaka Bill – Episode 368 part 2 -
http://www.hawaii-aloha.com/ – The Akaka Bill is back in the news, having once again passed the U.S. House of Representatives. ( It failed in two previous attempts to get Senate approval but prospects look better for passage this time.) Rather than describe the provisions of the bill, Id like to give you a way to look at the efforts to establish self-governance for Native Hawaiians and what that process means to casual visitors to the islands.

I’m planning a vacation to the Hawaiian islands in next month. Anyone have suggestions?
I’m going for 14 days next month. I want to hike, see the beaches, volcanoes, waterfalls and stay in hostels or camp. Does anyone have suggestions on the accessibility of getting around the islands, where to go or stay? Any suggestions are appreciated. thanks!
For 2 weeks and all that you want to do, the Big Island is definitely the island for you. The Big Island has great hiking and waterfalls, lots of beaches, and it’s the only island with an actively flowing volcano. You can get some tips here: http://beforeyougo.com/node/3
The Big Island is probably my favorite vacation location of all the places I’ve been in the world.
