Chainsaw Threat Sinks Kona Coach
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, 12/13/08. We quote an article which appeared this morning in the West Hawaii Today newspaper.
Headline: “Wood-Ferren Out at Kealakehe.” Text: “After being placed on administrative leave Tuesday, Bradley Wood-Ferren is out as Kealakehe girls soccer coach. Wood-Ferren said he could not comment on why he was placed on leave, citing ongoing proceedings at Kealakehe, but he did say he did not abuse players in any way while he was coaching… Assistant Eric Franke takes over on an interim basis… Franke is the fourth girls soccer coach in the past five years at Kealakehe… Kealakehe Athletic Director Mike Hernandez said Wood-Ferren had resigned.” [End WHT newspaper quote.]
According to local residents, on Monday of this week Wood-Ferren sent a 5-page e-mail to more than 33 members of the local community, with comments directed to critics of his coaching style. The e-mail instructed recipients to download the song “Break Stuff” by the rock group Limp Bizkit, “to set the tone of this diatribe.”
The song graphically depicts violent mood swings, depression, homicidal rage, decapitation and a chainsaw attack on humans.
