How long should you wait to go snorkeling?

… after getting peirced? I plan on going snorkeling in Hawaii in March, would I be healed enough to not get sick or attract any unwanted carnivorus creatures by then?

No swimming for 6 weeks after being pierced. During that time you are open to bacterial, parasitic, and protozoan infections.

Keep in mind anytime you get in an ocean, river, lake, pond, creek, stream, whatever, you’re swimming in a fish’s toilet. Everytime you get in a pool, you’re getting in a toilet…people pee in the pool whether they admit it or not.

Where can I do some snorkeling on Grand Bahama island near Our Lucaya?

I will be going to the Grand Bahamas and staying at Our Lucaya. I wish to do some snorkeling but would prefer to do it on my own schedule. Does anyone know of any locations that I can snorkel without renting a boat or going through a company?

I have my own gear already. Thank you.

Snorkeling in the Springs

My buddy Jason (green) and I (blue) found a nice spot in Alexander Springs, Florida to snorkel around in. It gets deeper everywhere else around this area, but the way the sun hit this area we decided to swim around a bit in here.

How good is the snorkeling in the Miami area in January?

Im going on my honeymoon in January, and some of our honeymoon is being spent in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area. My fiance loves to snorkel, but I was wondering how good the snorkeling is going to be in that area in January. How warm will the water be? And is it even worth it to try and go? Also, any good areas we should check out if snorkeling is a good idea?

Thanks for the help! :)

Serious Answers Only Please!

Water temperature in south Florida in January is 70 – 72 degrees (wear a lycra shell to ward off a chill). A great place to go is John Pennekamp Park in Key Largo, an easy drive from Miami. They have both snorkeling and scuba diving. Everything you need to know at http://www.pennekamppark.com/

what is a good inexpensive destination for snorkeling?

The Significant Other and I live in the US. We have been to Belize, Bonaire, Trinidad, Tobago, and Jamaica. We would like to try something different. Money is a little tight. Where should we go for good snorkeling and beaches? Thank you for all suggestions.

Mauritius?Or perhaps South east Asia.Been to the islands in Malaysia..was an experience we’ll never forget..beautiful islands to snorkel or scuba diving. Its cheap and ppl are friendly too.

Is there a difference between fins for snorkeling and body boarding?

I have fins for snorkeling, I was wondering if I could use it for body boarding effectively.

I’m a body boarder and a free diver. Snorkeling fins are longer and more flimsy that could push more water with ease. Body boarding fins are Stiffer and shorter and are meant for quick burst of power and can stabilize yourself on a wave.

Is there anything else to do in Sharm El-Sheikh besides swimming and snorkeling?

I might go to Sharm El-Sheikh for Eid. Is there a cultural side to that place or is it all just about swimming and snorkeling?

Lots of restaurants, a water park, lots of shops and hotels and thats about it. There are no ancient egyptian sites with in close proximity. There is mount Sinai with Saint Catherine’s Monastery, but thats about it. Dat trips can I understand be organised, but by coach its a very long time to sit in a vehicle. By plane its expensive.
