    Well I suppose for …
Well I suppose for the same reason that God did not just wipe out all the evil people in the world instead of having Noah build a ark in the first place and flood a entire planet? Or perhaps the same reason why Jesus had a blind man go to a pool to heal his blindness when he could have just did healed him. There does seem to be a pattern of God giving people the ability to participate in his plans however, and that could be the reason. But, simply put… I really don’t know.

    If you’re arguing …
If you’re arguing that there was a local flood then why did Noah need a boat? Why did he need every type of animal?

    I just realized:

    I just realized:

kol sounds like arabic kull, and erets sounds like arD in the same language. both have the same meaning as in the hebrew equivalent.

now I know this isn’t too suprising considering the close relation between the two, but it always amazes me to see how similar, yet so different, languages can be from one another.

  • PheonixRise173 says:

    Read the Hebrew. …
Read the Hebrew. There is a big distinction between ‘the earth’ (the land) and ‘the whole earth’ (the globe).

Genesis 8:9-11 makes it very clear; the waters covered the whole earth (the globe) and then the waters abated from the earth (the land). The earth (land) which is referred to is the land we see today; which is not the same land that was in the beginning of the creation.

Here’s a question, if the flood didn’t cover the world, why can’t we find the garden of eden?

  • 338dmac says:

    Well, what is land? …
Well, what is land? It is simply earth with no bodies of water on it. Seriously, what did you think was at the bottom of the ocean? If you took the ocean away, the sea floor would then become land. So since apparently the whole earth was covered with water, there was NO SUCH THING as land, and thus no land to be “dried up”. If there’s a body of water covering it, it IS NOT land, so there was no “water on the land” as you say.

  • 338dmac says:

    Wait, what?

    Wait, what?

  • FSMUnicorn says:

    Surely a better way …
Surely a better way to look at this is simply that the accounts in especially the older books of the old testament are flawed, that the people who wrote them didn’t understand what the whole world was, especially America, that the different books were written and edited by many different authors over a long period of time who would have used language in different ways (Hebrew was developing throughout this period). If you’re no longer a creationist, why bother trying to apologise for the OT?

    lmao

    Land, not sea …
    lmao

Land, not sea, buddy. Get your facts strait. The bible said the water on the LAND dried up, not the water in sea. And besides, NephilimFree even showed how you quote mined out of the scripture because verse nine shows that the water did not dry up from the whole globe.

Get a better translation of the bible….. or better yet, lrn2hebrew. I’m still laughing over that “Ertz”

    XD

  • LittleTruckingBozo says:

    “Oh soThe whole …
“Oh soThe whole land was flooded and then the floods dried up off the land.”

Bingo… So we can see the context refers to a local geology and not a plant wide geology so interpreting the entire earth is ridicules.

  • PheonixRise173 says:

    By the way, Psalms …
By the way, Psalms 104:6-8, even in the NIV says “You covered it [the earth] with the deep as with a garment; waters stood above the mountains. But at your rebuke the waters fled, at the sound of your thunder they took flight; they flowed over the mountains, they went down into the valleys, to the place you assigned for them.”

And no where in Psalm 104 does it talk about man. If it’s talking about the creation, why no mention of man who was created in God’s own image?

  • PheonixRise173 says:

    Your Hebrew is …

Your Hebrew is terrible. Any Rabbi would have failed you out.

It’s pronounced Ar’etz, Not Ertz. And it means the earth, mostly in the context of “the land” (distinguishing between the land and the sea). So the whole land dried up. Not the whole world. The whole land was flooded and then the floods dried up off the land.

And you accuse young earth creationist of picking and choosing? Read 2 Peter 3 and Job 38.

  • vincentjdrummer says:

    It’s very clear in …
It’s very clear in the context that the flood was worldwide. All life except for Noah and his animals was drowned in it. And it goes without question that life was worldwide and not local
