The Honolulu Festival is Hawaii’s premier cultural event, promoting understanding, economic cooperation and ethnic harmony between the people of Hawaii and the Asia-Pacific region. Each year, the Festival draws thousands of new and returning spectators who are looking for an experience beyond Hawaii. Sorry, alohalondon, I should have used “reply.” I gave the names of the 3 songs — the longest in the middle being “Nani Wai`ale`ale” — and explained that they were honoring various islands in the Hawaiian chain, with their songs and dances. Primeramente, un pedacito de “Kaimana Hila” (traduce: Diamond Head). Los hombres bailan a “Nani Wai`ale`ale” describiendo la isla de Kaua`i y su montana grande, que se llama Wai`ale`ale. Finalmente, las chicas bailan para otra isla, Hawai`i, y la ciudad capital, Hilo, con “Hilo Hula.” Esta cancion dice, “Kaulana mai ne o Hilo …”, “Famoso es Hilo.” Todos bailan y cantan en homenaje, una siquendo la otra, a cada isla de Hawai`i.
