Hawaiian vacation cost?

Author: I’m planning a vacation for next year to hawaii, maybe september? i’ve never planned such an extensive vacation so i was wondering if anyone has recently gone and what did it cost you? i heard that basic costs such as food can get very expensive. the trip is for myself, my husband and my 3 yr old son. We don’t want to stay at a top of the line place, but we don’t want to stay any shanty town either…so any tips/suggestions would help.

it cost be and my BF $2000, not including the flight. We stayed in 3 stars hotels.

My daughter, 2 grandsons and I stayed on Oahu for 8 days. Our hotel was pretty raw, but we survived and it was one of our best vacations. We ate mostly fast food and at local dives. Most of our activities were free. Total cost including hotel, rental car, food, souvenirs and admissions was $1640!!!!! Our airfare was free because of frequent flier miles!!!! Our hotel is the Royal Grove on Uluniu St. and we had a view of Waikiki Beach from the balcony, It has a small pool, is run by very nice people and has a huge following- the same people come back there year after year at the same times! If it interests you, book early! The rooms have kitchens which cut our food budget- we brought food for breakfast and bought food there to make picnic lunches most days. There is a brand new Safeway not far from there and cheap parking for a rental car 3 blocks away- they will give you info. If you have any other questions email me!
