Any unusual, interesting things on Oahu that you can recommend?

I will be visiting Oahu in February. I’ve been to Hawaii several times, including Honolulu.

I don’t like to just lay at the beach or pool, and I’ve been to many of the usual places, like a luau, Sea Life Park, etc. I love bookstores, thrift stores, independent films, and museums.

Can anyone recommend anything accessible by The Bus, anywhere on the island? I plan to take a ride around the island on The Bus.

Mahalo!

Giovanni’s shrimp truck on the North Shore. A local recommended it. You won’t find it in the tourist books. Locals know about it.

Strange how you want to travel in Oahu. OK you can go Waikele popular spot for tourists. Go to the shopping center there is a good number of stores there. Also you can ask a tour guide in Oahu to help you out. By the way use The Cab instead good service for tourists.

Or like the guy on top, visit that Shrimp van at the North shore VERY GOOD!

We have a fairly decent zoo at Kapiolani Park & an aquarium, just across the street. A hike up Diamond Head is a fun way to spend an afternoon, get some exercise, & see some great views. If you are into history at all, Iolani Palace & Queen Emma’s Summer Palace are both accessible by bus & are fascinating glimpses into the Kalakaua era. Walking around downtown, Chinatown & the Aloha Tower area is pretty interesting with lots of opportunity for good food. The Honolulu Art Acadamy has a theater, shows independent films & is right on the bus line. And of course Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial, & Punchbowl National Cemetary are all must sees if you have not visited them already.

Hope you have a fun vacation!
